About Me
I am a hematologist, oncologist, and bone marrow transplant specialist at Moffitt Malignant Hematology and Cellular Therapy at Memorial Healthcare System/Memorial Cancer Institute in Pembroke Pines. I am an Assistant Member and the quality chair of the cellular therapy program.
I am board-certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology. My clinical focus is on caring for patients with lymphoid malignancies and those in need of blood and marrow transplants, chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, as well as the management of post-
stem cell transplant complications.
I earned my medical degree from the Fundacion Universitaria de Ciencias de la Salud (FUCS) in Bogota, Colombia. I then joined the University of Miami International Medicine Institute elective program for an advanced educational experience in special immunology and hematology. I completed an internal medicine internship and residency at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, where I was rotating resident in BMT and Lymphoma at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC). I also completed a hematology/medical oncology fellowship at Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Case Medical Center, where I served as a chief fellow, followed by an advanced fellowship in Blood and Marrow Transplantation & Cellular Therapy at Stanford University.
Prior to joining Moffitt at Memorial, I was the Director of Hematologic Malignancies, Apheresis and Stem Cell Transplant at Billings Clinic Cancer Center, providing malignant hematology and stem cell transplant care at the largest healthcare system serving Montana, Wyoming, and the Western Dakotas.
I hold multiple professional memberships, I have been the principal investigator and coinvestigator of multiple clinical trials and I have published and presented my research in national meetings.
