Medical Director, Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Program, Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute

Dr. Sean O’Donnell is the Medical Director of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute. He joined Memorial in 2012 after seven years as Director of Vascular Surgery at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. A retired colonel in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, he served a distinguished military career, and received a Bronze Star for service during the Persian Gulf War, culminating with a decade as Chief and Program Director of Vascular Surgery Service at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Beginning in 2005, he taught medical students, residents and fellows from Washington Hospital Center at Georgetown University as Director of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery.

After earning his medical degree from the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola, University of Chicago, Dr. O'Donnell completed his residency at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco. He completed two surgical fellowships, first at Walter Reed, and later at Cleveland Clinic. Board certified in surgery and vascular surgery, his special research interests include endovascular management of aortic dissections and arterial trauma and other aortic diseases.
