About Me
Medical Director, JDCH CATS Unit
I am a child and adolescent psychiatrist at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. I trained in the Triple Board Residency Program at Mount Sinai Medical Center in pediatrics, adult psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry, and am board certified in all three disciplines.
As a pediatrician, I am familiar with normal child development, as well as the many medical illnesses that affect children. As a child and adolescent psychiatrist, I identify, diagnose and treat the mental health concerns that represent aberrations in the normal developmental trajectory.
I work with children of all ages to treat depression and anxiety, suicidality, disruptive behaviors, obsessive-compulsive disorder, psychoses, and disorders of mood regulation. I have worked extensively with children in impoverished circumstances, as well as those who are in care due to family history of substance abuse, or due to abuse or neglect in the home. I have also worked with children with learning difficulties that contribute to mental health problems, as well as children with mental health problems that impede their ability to learn.
As a child and adolescent psychiatrist, my primary job is to listen to, and hear, my patients and their families. For so many, just being heard is cathartic. I gain tremendous satisfaction from developing a working relationship with my patients that results in substantive change for them and their families.
