Rehabilitation is an outpatient medically supervised program aimed to improve your cardiovascular health if you have experienced a heart attack, a heart condition, heart surgery or angioplasty.
At Memorial, we believe undergoing a heart event does not have to stop you from living your life to the fullest. Our outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program is designed to rehabilitate your heart, prevent any further heart injuries and give you your life back.
Our comprehensive approach emphasizes:
- Patient- and family-centered goal setting
- Heart disease management education
- Exercise prescription and therapy
- Nutrition counseling
- Stress management
- Risk factor modification, such as blood sugars, cholesterol levels, blood pressure and/or body weight management

Cardiac rehabilitation is not just exercise, but an experience. You will be given an individualized treatment plan and will exercise alongside other people with similar conditions. This social approach allows for a supportive, encouraging and motivating atmosphere.
Each session will include:
- EKG monitoring
- Vitals monitoring
- Individualized exercise plans based on your specific goals. Exercises consist of:
- Cardiovascular (aerobic) training
- Mobility (flexibility and agility) training

- Balance/stability training
- Cardiac disease management education
- Daily session reports
- Monthly progress reports to your physician

Cardiac rehabilitation is covered by Medicare and most healthcare insurance companies. The number of sessions authorized may vary based on diagnosis but are typically covered for up to 36 sessions.
