Leading for Our Patients – Memorial is Here for Randy
September 24, 2024
After Randy received stroke care from Memorial Neuroscience Institute, his therapist at Memorial Rehabilitation Institute sent him to the emergency room, where he was diagnosed with a heart condition.
“His symptoms that day weren't consistent with what he had before,” said Randy Kidd, DPT, physical therapist. “It was definitely a red flag.”
Randy had five stents put in the blocked vessels round his heart at Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute.
“He really was a hero to me. He sent me to the hospital when I needed to go,” said Randy, who was able to return for cardiac and more physical rehabilitation.
“It's amazing and magical what we're able to do when we all work together one department to the next,” said Carolina Martinez, MS, RCEP, supervisor, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, Memorial Hospital West.
“It is definitely a group effort,” said Bassel Ibrahim, MD, medical director, cardiac catheterization lab, Memorial Hospital West. “It's doctors, nurses, rehab and physical therapists, respiratory therapists, everybody.”
