About Me
I was inspired by great mentors to pursue a career as a pediatric nephrologist. But what inspired me most was working with dialysis patients and seeing their difficulties firsthand. Their resilience motivated me to take a central role in their care.
Dr. Millan enjoys working closely with children who have chronic kidney disease and need close monitoring and care to prevent the worsening of their renal condition. At Memorial, we employ a family-centered, holistic approach to care so that individuals, especially children and adolescents, are treated respectfully, with high regard for their own wishes, and with respect for diverse cultural approaches to understanding health and disease.
In addition to caring for patients, I am also involved in clinical research. One of my interests is understanding how to optimize the clinical identification of acute kidney injury among hospitalized neonates, children and adolescents, as well as understanding kidney disease in neonates.
I have a Master of Science in Public Health and believe much of our current pathology has a large public health component. One of my focuses in this area is better understanding the role of prematurity and obesity in kidney disease.
