About Me
Medical Director, Stroke Programs, Memorial Hospital Miramar and Memorial Hospital Pembroke
I am a neurointerventionalist at Memorial Healthcare System. I completed a cerebrovascular fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and an advanced fellowship in neuro-endovascular surgery at the Texas Stroke Institute. I am an assistant professor of neurosurgery at Florida Atlantic University Charles E Schmidt College of Medicine. I received board certification by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS) for Recognition of Focused Practice in CNS Endovascular Surgery.
I am dually trained in the medical and interventional neuroendovascular surgical care of stroke patients. My clinical interests include the utilization of neuro-interventional techniques for the management of complex brain and spinal cord vascular diseases such as aneurysms, complex vascular tumors, arteriovenous malformations, and fistulas. I perform intracranial and cervical carotid angioplasty and stenting for atherosclerotic stenosis. I am also involved in the treatment of cerebral vasospasm, endovascular tumor embolization, refractory epistaxis, and intra-arterial mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke.
I am passionate about providing outstanding and comprehensive clinical care to all patients. I use a combination of compassionate care and cutting-edge, neuro-endovascular surgical techniques to provide the best quality care to my patients. I am dedicated to eliminating healthcare disparities and building sustainable, healthy communities.
I am at the forefront of developing and utilizing new neuro-endovascular techniques to alleviate the burden of cerebrovascular diseases. I have published several peer-reviewed articles, written several textbook chapters, and I have served as principal investigator of groundbreaking clinical trials. I am a member of several scientific societies such as the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery (SNIS), and I have presented at numerous national and international conferences. I am a clinical reviewer for the Journal of Neurointerventional Surgery.
I have been recognized by the prestigious “Castle Connolly Top Doctors in America” with the “Top American Doctor” awards in 2023 and 2024. I am the recipient of the “Award of Excellence” for dedication, hard work, and leadership to stroke care by the South Broward Hospital District in 2023 and the recipient of the “Excellence in Leadership Award” from Memorial Healthcare System in 2022.
I am passionate about educating future physicians. I am the recipient of the “Faculty Physicians Excellence Award for Teaching” from Memorial Healthcare System in 2022 and the recipient of the “Physician Teacher of the Year” for innovative teaching, dedicated service, and ongoing commitment to student education at American Heritage in 2023 and 2024.
My clinical acumen and community work have been recognized with several awards from different organizations. In 2020, I received the 40 under 40 leader in health awards from the NMQF organization, an American Health Services System based in Washington, DC. In 2024, I received a proclamation from the city of Tamarac, Florida as a modern-day trailblazer for my continued commitment to excellence, leadership, volunteering, and humanitarian services in the medical field and beyond.
In recognition of my voluntary work as a humanitarian and global health strategist who has led medical mission trips abroad, I received the United States President’s Lifetime Achievement Award on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York City in 2024. I also received the United States Congressional Proclamation from the New York Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, “The Key to the City of New York” Award, and the Conscience Clock Award from the Federation of World Peace and Love.
