“They Became Like Family” - Adam’s Brain Injury Rehabilitation
January 14, 2025
I feel very fortunate and thank the Memorial doctors and surgeons who helped me,” said Adam, who had a traumatic brain injury. “They truly saved my life. The rehabilitation team, they have blessed me.
After a motorcycle accident, Adam had a severe traumatic brain injury on top of multiple traumatic injuries and infections.
“He's probably about as bad as they come,” said Ian Miller, DO, physical medicine and rehabilitation, Memorial Rehabilitation Institute. “But even when he is in a coma, we start the therapy process right away,” said Dr. Miller. “Once he wakes up, we do three hours of therapy a day, hitting it from all angles.”
“They became like a family,” said Maria, Adam’s mom. “They answer all the questions and cry with you. They give their love. They are above the top. He would not be alive if not for Memorial. I’m very grateful. It means everything.”
