Emergency Medicine Residents
Meet Our Current Emergency Medicine Residents
Farah Azzouz, DO
About Me: I’m from Jacksonville, FL (DUUUVAL) and I grew up by the beach so I love being anywhere near the water! Some fun facts about me are that I speak Arabic and I would go to shocking lengths for a great Halloween costume. If I’m not in the ED, catch me trying to convince everyone to go to happy hour!!
Alexandra Blanco, DO
About Me: I enjoy taking care of my five chickens and 11-year-old puppy!
Nicholas Booth, MD
About Me: I love all adventures, marathon running, hockey, and the NY Rangers! I also couples matched with my girlfriend who is a General Surgery resident here at MHS. Looking forward to learning all I can in residency!
Aleksandr Butovskiy, DO
About Me: I moved from Ukraine to Wisconsin and attended medical school in Chicago, but I’m excited to make South Florida my new home. I did Division-I track & field in college and worked as a project manager for a construction company before attending medical school.
Marianne Lopez, MD
About Me: I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela and keep my roots very close to my heart. However, Ive also had the pleasure of calling Spain, Michigan, and South Florida home at different points in my life and each pit stop has had a great impact in who I am today. Excited to finally be in the field I’ve dreamed of being a part of since my scribe days at the very same hospital where I used to scribe! Full circle moment.
Spencer Rice, DO
About Me: I grew up in Clearwater, Florida and love staying active through sports, running, gym, and spending time at the beach. I also love to sneak away for trips to go snowboarding or hiking whenever I can.
Claudia Risi, DO
About Me: You’ll either find me by the water, preferably on a boat or fishing, or vegged out on the couch watching Bravo! I also love any excuse to be active, travel and find my creative outlets painting!
Cale Schneider, MD
About Me: I grew up in SW Florida, and I’m happily married with 2 kids (post COVID wedding)! Another fun fact is I played college football and used to coach high school football.
Kyle Seifert, MD
About Me: I’m from Buffalo, New York, die hard bills fan that got tired of the snow. I couples matched with my fiancé Kylie who is at Memorial in Pediatrics. We both couldn’t be happier to be in South Florida!
Samantha Stein, DO
About Me: I’m actually a certified lifeguard with EMT training. I also love all things outdoors and hiking is my favorite way to decompress. I rotated here as a student so I’m excited to return as a resident!
Anastasia Alpizar, DO
About Me: I love everything that has to do with the ocean. I enjoy snorkeling, fishing, and spending the day at the beach. I enjoy spending time with my family (and dogs), traveling, and cheering for the Miami Heat.

Morgan Reel, MD
About Me: Hey y’all!! I am from the teeny tiny town of Edgefield, SC. I’m a southern girl that has a little crush on this world…always looking for my next adventure! In my free time, you can find me baking (I have a major sweet tooth), FaceTiming my puppy back home, and googling the next place I wanna travel to. (if you’re a golf fan) I’ve worked for the Augusta National Golf Club, home of The Masters for almost a decade…I’ve never played the course, but I’ve putted on it! That kinda counts, right?
Andrei Simon, DO
Nadine Ajami, MD
Why Memorial: All the attendings and residents are amazing to work with. And there is absolutely no shortage of procedures to go around
Sebastian Fresquet, DO
Why Memorial: I like Memorial because they focus on patient centered care and have an excellent patient population for training.
Sara Greenwald, DO
Why Memorial: I love Memorial because of the diverse patient population we get to see, being able to rotate through JoeD and see a ton of pathology in the pediatric world and because of all the amazing doctors we get to learn from. I love being in south Florida, because I can finally get to be close to my family again after being on the west coast for medical school. In addition, I love spending time at the beach, pool, biking and running when it’s not too hot and traveling and road-tripping with my husband.
Jalyn Joseph, MD
Why Memorial: I knew Memorial was the place for me immediately after my interview. The people are amazing. I love being in the ED at west and regional. The entire ED is one big family. There is never a dull day. There are so many learning opportunities with no shortages of procedures. I also love being close to home. I always am able to find time to go home and visit my family!
Ryan Kelly, MD
Why Memorial: All the attendings and residents are amazing to work with. And there is absolutely no shortage of procedures to go around.
Ella Hadley Modeen, MD
Why Memorial: Just say for me that I moved back down South because I couldn’t stand 2 more winters in the North after NY/NJ clinical. I’m not Jon Snow after all! Memorial EM offered an outstanding amount of variety in patient population, teaching faculty, and learning opportunities. The Memorial Community has already helped me grow so much as a resident and I’m excited for the upcoming years as it molds me into the physician I always wanted to be. But forever Geaux Tigers.
Ambika Shivarajpur, DO
Why Memorial: Aside from the beautiful location and great weather, Memorial offers an excellent training environment with supportive staff and a diverse patient population. I love it here!
Larissa Tavares, MD
Why Memorial: Why not? The diverse patient population, eclectic attendings, and location was everything she was looking for. She loves learning new things and being able to work with her hands which Memorial excels at. In addition to EM, she loves learning about holistic medicine, art, Godard films, and spending her time at the beach. She is incredibly grateful to be at Memorial because it “fits the vibe.”
Hong Diem Truong, DO
Why Memorial: Upon matching Memorial, it almost felt like coming home after being a scribe! I love coming to work every day because of the people I get to work with and the supportive environment - fellow residents, amazing attendings who love to teach and work with residents, and the awesome nurses and techs. Between Regional, West and JoeD, we get so much pathology with different and diverse suburban versus urban patient populations. I am genuinely happy to be a resident of such an amazing program! I also love being near family here in South Florida and the weather - no driving in the snow!
Carly Whittaker, DO
Why Memorial: Before medical school I was a medical scribe in the Joe DiMaggio ED and absolutely loved my time there. On my audition rotation there was a moment when one of the attendings grabbed all of the residents and students that were in the ED to show them a really cool physical exam finding. That moment cemented my choice to rank Memorial #1. Each and every attending is focused to helping you become the best EM trained physician you can be! Also huge perk my family lives here!
